Workplace Biodiversity

Come to Wildacres Nature Reserve for a rewarding experience and informative workshop on Workplace Biodiversity.

In the relaxed stress-free atmosphere and the nature filled setting of Wildacres, learn all about how you and/or your staff, can engage with, and take measures to attract Biodiversity into the outdoor Workplace environment.

Regardless of the size of the outdoor space available, from an accessible rooftop blank canvas space to a balcony, courtyard or any sized green area. Find out how your team can together implement a planned set of actions to attract in wildlife into that space. The reward to be had from such a project on an ongoing basis is immeasurable.

The workshop will include an indoor seated visual presentation in The Big Green Barn followed by an engaging guided tour of specific areas within the nature reserve including the wildlife ponds, wildflower meadow, native hedgerow, pollinator beds and butterfly border. There will be plenty of opportunity for Q&A.

Topics covered will include:

  • The different types of habitats you can create in your outdoor space.
  • The various species of wildlife you can attract and expect to see.
  • The selection of native and non-native plants you can have, that are both highly attractive to wildlife and visually stunning.
  • The management required to maintain the habitats created.
  • The additional measures you can take by erecting nest boxes, roosting boxes, bee hotels, bumblebee nesting cavities and much more to help wildlife.

Workshop includes a refreshment break for a Cuppa and Wildacres Honey Oat Cookies seated overlooking the ¾ acre wildlife pond.

You will also receive a gift of a young native willow tree (a tree which supports a significant amount of native Irish Wildlife).

Duration: 2.5 hours

Group Size: 10-14

Price: €65*

Age: 16+ years (must be accompanied by an adult)

Weather: Please dress for the great outdoors and Irish weather.

Suitability: Wellies recommended, some rough ground.
