Creating A Wildlife Pond

Come to Wildacres Nature Reserve for an enjoyable and relaxing workshop and learn all about creating a Wildlife Pond in your garden or outdoor space.

Explore how you can make a wonderful wildlife pond, whether that is in a small courtyard, a back garden of any size or a on few acres or more. Ponds can be made to any size to suit your location, from a sink sized small water feature to a bigger wildlife garden pond to a field-sized large pond.

Find out about the stunning array of insects and larger animals that a wildlife pond will attract for you to observe and enjoy throughout the seasons.

The workshop will include an indoor seated visual presentation in The Big Green Barn followed by an engaging guided tour visiting a selection of the 9 wildlife ponds and discussing their importance and the diversity of wildlife they support. There will be plenty of opportunity for Q&A.

Topics covered will include:

  • How and where to construct your pond.
  • What plants you can use to create a visually stunning pond and that will attract an array of wildlife.
  • The various species of wildlife you can expect to see.
  • Maintenance of your pond through the seasons.
  • The additional measures you can take close to your pond to attract other wildlife that will further add to the attraction of your pond. Such as Bat Roosting Boxes, areas for amphibians to hibernate and much more to help wildlife.
