WILDLIFE PONDS WORKSHOP

Whether you have a courtyard, a garden, a community space or acres of land, this interactive workshop will give you all the tools you need for creating and managing your own wildlife pond.

“Ponds are fantastic habitats for wildlife and have been demonstrated to host more biodiversity than rivers and lakes, particularly macroinvertebrates and less common species (⅔ of all freshwater species!). Permanent and naturally vegetated ponds are excellent at carbon sequestration (Gilbert et al., 2014). Taylor et al. (2019) found that small ponds sequestered 20-30 times the amount of carbon compared with woodlands, grasslands and other habitats” An Taisce

The workshop includes:

  • Demonstration of several wildlife ponds from kitchen sink size to football-pitch size.
  • How to create a wildlife pond and what to plant
  • Wildlife Pond biodiversity and monitoring
  • Wildlife Pond management and conservation
  • Plenty of opportunity for Q&A
  • A Cuppa and Cookies overlooking our largest wildlife pond.

Find out more about the stunning array of insects and larger animals that a wildlife pond will attract for you to observe and enjoy throughout the seasons.
